The Australian Council of Social Services (ACOSS) and the Total Environment Centre (TEC), the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) and Energy Consumers Australia (ECA) are working under the Distributed Energy Integration Program (DEIP) to deliver three workshops on the theme of distributed energy resource (DER) network access and pricing.
Summary
The workshops aim to develop a holistic suite of equitable and efficient network access and pricing solutions, underpinned by clearly defined energy user-centric design principles that have broad support and can inform policy and regulatory changes. The workshops include more than 120 participants from government, industry, associations, market bodies and regulators, in addition to a cross-section of energy-user customer representative groups.
The third and final workshop was held on 11 March 2020 to provide feedback and input into the proposed ‘future state’ options and consider reform next steps. The AEMC engaged CEPA to support the access and pricing conversations by identifying options that could improve the integration of DER into the electricity system. Specifically, this included options that would provide increased or more certain access for DER owners with the ability to generate and export electricity.
