The ARENA Board and CEO have recently held a round of consultation meetings in Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane and Darwin via teleconference.

The Melbourne meeting was represented by close to a hundred independent renewable energy organisations while Perth and Brisbane were attended by 25 and 35 representatives respectively. The Darwin teleconference was attended by 15 key stakeholders.

The ARENA Chair, Mr Greg Bourne, was pleased with the very high level of interest, the quality of the presentations and the willingness of participants to engage in constructive dialogue about ARENA’s future work.

The meetings represent an encouraging first step and provide a solid foundation for building a partnership between ARENA and Australia’s renewable energy community.

The ideas generated during the consultation meetings are now being synthesised and considered by ARENA staff. This advice will be considered and used to develop the final 2012-13 to 2014-15 general funding strategy.

We encourage anyone who would like to present their views to the ARENA Board and wasn’t able to attend the meeting to provide a written submission.
