Overview

Carnegie Wave Energy has completed the conceptual design phase of the CETO 6 Project at Garden Island, Western Australia. ARENA is providing $13 million support towards the development of the next generation CETO 6 technology.

The CETO 6 concept design is the culmination of work commenced in 2012 and incorporates lessons learned from the Perth Wave Energy Project, recent wave tank testing in Scotland, internal design and modelling studies and design work undertaken with Carnegie’s supply chain.

This latest wave power technology promises to deliver a number of advantages over previous CETO generations. The design has a four times greater rated capacity at 1MW, along with simplified installation and maintenance and more advanced control systems.

Learning and experience gained through Carnegie’s ARENA supported projects are being shared with the renewable energy industry to help reduce the hurdles facing other wave energy projects.

Carnegie will now progress to the detailed design phase of the project.
