About the program
The Advancing Renewables Program (ARP) is continuously open for applications that address our investment focus areas to:
- Optimise the transition to renewable electricity
- Commercialise clean hydrogen
- Support the transition to low emissions metals
ARENA wishes to attract and fund projects that align with its Investment Plan.
Through the Advancing Renewables Program, ARENA is able to fund only those low emissions projects and activities that involve a renewable energy technology or technologies that increase the supply of, or improve the competitiveness of, renewable energy in Australia and have a clear nexus to renewable energy and its enabling technologies.

Complete the assessment
The Advancing Renewables Program (ARP) is an open, ongoing program which will run until funds are exhausted or otherwise terminated or extended at ARENA’s discretion.
You may submit an application at any time. Applications will be assessed on a regular basis as driven by pipeline volume.
You are strongly encouraged to contact ARENA at to discuss your proposal prior to submitting the online application. You can request guidance on your concept via the contact us form and select ‘Funding Applications’.
How to submit an application for funding
Prior to submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI), ensure you have engaged with us. Please contact us via the contact us form.
Step 3.1: Navigate to and create an account with ARENANet
Step 3.2: Select ‘Advancing Renewables Program – Expression of Interest’ to commence an expression of interest application.
Item 4.6 of the ARP Guidelines outlines the requirements that must be met to submit an EOI.

Full application
Applicants who are successful at the EOI stage will be invited to submit a Full Application and provided a link to the application form.

Note: It is a requirement of submission that you review the Funding Agreement Template contract. If you do not agree with clauses or details record them in the Compliance Table template. If you agree, submit a blank document with your application.
