Heralded as the premier event to connect clean tech startups and investors, Innovation Bay will hold its annual event this November. 

The ARENA and Innovation Bay Renewables Start-Up Showcase 2024 is on a mission to provide funding pathways for climate and clean tech startups.  

Funding is critical in driving industry growth. Startups need funding support to thrive and help grow the industry as a whole. Bridging this gap is a focus for the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and the driving force behind the event.  

“Supporting startups in the renewable energy and climate change sector is important to ARENA. Some of our greatest ideas and innovations originate from startups and entrepreneurs and we need to encourage all available talent and new business models to help us to achieve our goal of net zero emissions,” Darren Miller, CEO of ARENA, said at last year’s Innovation Bay.  

What’s on at the event 

This year’s Innovation Bay will allow chosen applicants to showcase and pitch their ideas to over 100 of Australia’s leading angel investors, venture capitals (VC), private enterprise (PE) and corporate venture capital. Fostering an environment to create connections and supercharge growth in the clean energy space is a key focus of the program.  

Over a series of weeks, Innovation Bay’s program will offer start-ups a chance to pitch and engage with the broader community. The opportunity will allow them to get valuable and unique insights from founders and VCs to hone a pitch and get investment ready.  

Past events have seen startups like Hysata present their electrolyser technology to investors. Hysata have just announced a $172 million round for their project from various investors. Other success stories include 5B, RayGen, MGA Thermal, Infravision, Renewable Metals, Sicona and Novalith. Many of these companies have just closed additional funding.
