The Allume Rooftop Solar Salvation Army Pilot Demonstration Project was launched at the end of 2019 after over a year of concept development and stakeholder consultation.
This project envisioned an innovative and scalable business model of providing back-to-back Power Purchase Agreements with not-for-profit organisations with a property portfolio comprising of multitenant buildings. The ambition was to use the roof space of not-for-profit organisations’ properties to generate income through selling solar electricity to tenants in those same buildings. This would be achieved in a way that had no impact on the balance sheet of the non-profit, with a financier taking on the capital expenditure for the solar installation.
