This report outlines the challenges and insights gained over the past six months since October 2024, during the first phase of the project, and includes early developments of the second phase, bidirectional charging. Key insights include:
- Customer engagement: 82 out of 100 project smart chargers installed and onboarded. 2,057 customers have expressed an interest in participating in the later V2G portion of the project.
- Vehicle integration: While integrating with the increasingly large market of EVs the project has had success with Tesla API connection. This has enabled 850 Tesla vehicles to have their charging optimised.
- Supply chain constraints: Amber have found that there is currently a limited availability of Australian Standards compliant bi-directional enabled chargers.
Following the completion of the smart charger installations, Amber will begin the installation of the first 25 V2G chargers and demonstrate controlling a V2G charger within a testing environment.
