Report extract
Kennedy Energy Park (KEP) is the first utility-scale hybrid wind, solar, and storage project to be project financed globally. The project aims to generate clean power throughout the day and night by leveraging complementary wind and solar resources. As of May 2024, the KEP has achieved commercial operation, following extensive construction, connection, and commissioning phases.
This report outlines key milestones, stakeholder roles, technical specifications and financial details, including a total EPC contract value of over $136 million. It also presents detailed lessons learnt across project planning, grid compliance, construction risk management, and commissioning. Specifically, it was identified that early technical risk assessments are crucial for hybrid projects and that early engagement with network providers and thorough technical due diligence are essential.
Following the completion of commissioning, KEP will focus on operational reporting and optimising performance to ensure long-term reliability and efficiency.
