This final report details the successes and challenges faced when deploying 40 electric buses and retrofit of the Leichhardt Bus Depot.
Report extract
The project is expected to deliver significant value to consumers, paving the way for a cheaper and emission-free public transport system.
Since the project’s completion, the Leichhardt Bus Depot has been operating with electric buses and
charging infrastructure. The asset performed well, with the electric buses demonstrating reliable and efficient performance, and the charging infrastructure meeting the demands of daily bus operations. The project benefits include a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 1,758 tonnes of CO2 savings in 2002, improved local air quality, and reduced noise pollution. In addition, the project has provided valuable knowledge and lessons learned for the wider transport sector and has paved the way for the deployment of electric buses across Australia.
