This edition was curated by the team at the Business Renewables Centre Australia (BRC-A). In 2018, ARENA provided $500,000 in funding towards establishing the BRC-A – Australia’s first online resource centre and marketplace to help Australian organisations (particularly commercial and industrial energy users) increase their use of renewable energy through corporate power purchase agreements (PPAs).
Since launching in 2018, the BRC-A has been responding to overwhelming interest – from buyers to developers as well as professional service providers in between. It has already helped connect renewable energy buyers and sellers with more than 13.3 GW of renewable energy across 91 projects. Members are also benefiting from access to the Buyers Roadmap, an online resource library, and a live marketplace connecting buyers, developers, and retailers of renewable energy projects across Australia.
The success of the BRC-A is a story of the right solution at the right time. A growing number of Australian organisations are eager to shift their energy use to 100% renewables, and renewable energy developers are keen to lock in longer term contracts to finance their project. Simplifying the corporate PPA process provides a financial win-win for all parties and plays a major role in scaling up renewable energy deployment.
