The report details the operating philosophy of the solar thermal plant, expected monthly generation profiles, and estimates the annual production, capacity factor and availability of the plant.
Report extract
In May 2014, RAC’s technical consultant completed a Technical Feasibility Study Report.
The report examines all the relevant technical aspects of the project, including:
- historical weather data and solar resource;
- technology proposed and similar reference plants;
- project definition;
- capital and O&M costs;
- plant performance;
- risk assessments;
- environmental and planning outcomes;
- socio‐economic evaluation (as prepared for the Solar Flagship project);
- project execution plan; and
- construction schedule;
Details of the proposed hybrid solar thermal plant have been determined in the areas of: the layout, solar field size and location including designs for the evaporator field and superheater field; foundations and substructure; design of the receiver and absorber tubes, piping and mechanical equipment; the power block including steam turbine generator, condenser, cooling system, feedwater system, gas fired boiler design, water treatment plant, control systems and electrical systems; and control and administration buildings.
Determination of water supply and water usage has been firmed up, as has the gas supply and gas usage and details of the connection to the electricity grid.
