Report extract
With the installation of grid-connected solar PV at properties across the network, technological innovation is required to manage the two-way flow of energy on the grid and prevent overloading.
Installation of ‘smart inverter’ technology at properties will enable DNSPs to manage the flow of energy on the grid at an overall level, enabling customers to benefit from the solar energy they export to a greater extent than might otherwise be the case with a fixed export connection.
SA Power Networks is currently rolling out a program of installation of Flexible Export technology at residential properties across their network.
The aim of this research is to evaluate this technology from a customer perspective through an ongoing program of surveys and interviews.
The results of this research will help inform decision-making about the rollout of this technology more broadly.
