The next generation of world leading University of NSW (UNSW) solar researchers driving the University’s Sunswift solar car took third place in the Michelin Cruiser Class of the 2013 World Solar Challenge.

The Sunswift team is backed by the UNSW node of the ARENA-supported ‘Australia-US Institute for Advanced Photovoltaics’ program, which is a $88.5 million eight year research collaboration between Australian and American researchers to develop the next generations of photovoltaic technology, providing a pipeline of opportunities for performance increase and cost reduction.

UNSW competed against research institutions from around the globe at the World Solar Challenge, a solar car race from Darwin to Adelaide.
