A pre-Budget letter from ARENA CEO Ivor Frischknecht
Dear Stakeholder
The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) was established in July 2012 to improve the cost competitiveness and increase the amount of renewable energy used in Australia.
The Australian Renewable Energy Agency Act 2011 determines ARENA’s funding envelope and profile; however, this legislation can be changed by the Australian Parliament.
Given the fiscal outlook and media speculation concerning the forthcoming Budget on 13 May 2014, the future of ARENA’s funding is unclear. You may wish to take this into consideration, particularly when developing your applications.
Any decision about ARENA’s funding envelope will not affect projects that already have a funding agreement in place with ARENA. ARENA continues to manage its existing projects and to assess and progress proposals received.
