Industrial Energy Transformation Studies Program
About the Industrial Energy Transformation Studies Program
$43 million has been allocated to assist large energy users to undertake studies to identify opportunities to lower energy costs and reduce emissions.
Round 1 will see $25 million available for Feasibility and Engineering Studies. Applicants can apply under one of two rounds:
- Round 1A – Feasibility Studies (up to $10 million available). Grants can be between $100,000 and $500,000 for up to 75% of eligible project costs
- Round 1B – Engineering Studies (up to $15 million available). Grants can be between $250,000 and $5 million for up to 50% of eligible project costs.
Program launch date
The Industrial Energy Transformation Studies Program is currently on hold due to the disallowance of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency Amendment (2020-21 Budget Programs) Regulation 2021.
The launch of Round 1A and Round 1B funding rounds, which was due to open on July 6, has been postponed pending the government issuing a new regulation that clarifies the technologies that ARENA is able to support in the Program. Program guidelines will be revised and reissued ahead of the opening date of the funding round.
ARENA will hold information sessions when the funding round opens. More information on these sessions will be published shortly.
Please note as Round 1 is a competitive process, we are unable to provide applicants with guidance on submissions.
